In the last episode, Naveel was able to finally escape the little witch Cisha. In the end, though she had trapped him and other spirits, she was just a lonely child.

Random Scene: PC Positive
I think the tree spirit will want something more from Naveel, but I’ll use the Friendship actions to determine if that is so.
Wandering Encounter d6=6 (only get encounter on 1)Forest Descriptors: Mysterious + Nature
Navell moved hastily through the thick undergrowth of the forest within the Gift of Shuritashi. He had a general idea of where he was in relation to the dawn petal tree. Though he was bent on getting the dawn petals, as he walked, he noticed an abundance of various mushrooms and other possible ingredients that could be used in his pursuit of alchemy. He did not want to take the time to stop and gather them now, but it gave him comfort knowing that they were so prevalent in these woods. That would make the upcoming Truffle Hunt all the more exciting!
Soon, he was standing once again in front of the spirit-enlivened dawn petal tree, its pink petaled flowers twitching in a gentle forest breeze. Flitting among the branches was a little blue spirit bird, its feathers fading out of sight at the edges. It gave the bird a feeling of blurriness as it hopped from branch to branch. Naveel began to get dizzy if he watched it too closely. The bird noticed him and trilled a songful hello.
“Hello!” Naveel said back happily.
“Wha…oh, you’re back already?” the tree spirit said sleepily.
Naveel grinned and pointed at the bird. He knew within himself that the bird was the spirit that had been trapped in the broom at Cisha’s. “I freed your sibling.”
“Oh, indeed. I am so tired, I didn’t even realize he had returned. Welcome back my dear brother,” the tree spirit’s tone turned to honey at the last and several branches moved to pet the bird and give it a tender flower bedecked embrace.
Friendship impact of delivering a gift (returning the spirit) d10=1.

The tree seemed to forget Naveel was there and she and the bird murmured to each other for several minutes. Rather than interrupt their reunion, Naveel made a little camp for himself to get a little rest.
Short Rest. Use 1 d6 HD=5. HP now at 9/14.
Naveel was resting on the damp forest floor, reading over his spellbook, when the tree spirit spoke again.
“Stilta tells me you and he had quite an adventure there at the little witch’s hut. Tell me about what happened after you freed him?”

Impact 1d8=1 vs 1 No increase in Bond Level
Naveel recounted the story to the spirit, and she seemed more than a little annoyed that the spirit that had been trapped in the cat’s skeleton decided to stay after being freed.
“I think you should have freed her and any of the other spirits trapped there. But…I guess one person can’t solve all the world’s problems. I promised you dawn petals if you freed my little Stilta and you did that. So, here.” And she shook her branches violently until a petal drifted down to the ground.
Number of petals D6=1
“Just one petal?” Naveel tried to hide the disappointment from his voice as he tenderly placed the flower petal in his pack.

“Do you expect me to give you all my treasured petals? I thought you were doing me a favor, doing a good deed?” The tree was awfully cranky today.
The bird spirit tweeted something that Naveel thought was disappointment.
“Ok, fine, here you can have more.” And the tree spirit reluctantly shook her branches once again.
D4=4 petals
Naveel gratefully picked up the additional petals and gave the bird a heartfelt grin.
“But in return, I need another favor.’
Inwardly, Naveel groaned, but he only nodded, his grin still plastered on his face.
“This favor will not be so onerous I think. The rain has been insufficient for my roots so far this year. I need you to bring me enough water to fully saturate the ground under my branches. I’m quite thirsty.”
“Oh, I can do that!” Naveel said with excitement. He was eager to use his Water Bullet spell for some other reason besides hurting someone. He spoke the archaic words and made a swirling motion with his hands. The sphere of water burst forth and wet the ground all around the tree’s base.
Level 1 spell slot expended. 1 remaining.
Mythic, is that enough water, likely? 83 vs 85. Yes. Man, that was close. I’m rolling terribly today.
The tree sighed in satisfaction as the water seeped into the dirt. Naveel said his goodbyes to the two spirits and hurried back to Matango Village.
Encounter d6=5 None
Naveel walked into the village a few hours later, the people there busily going about their tasks, getting ready for the upcoming Truffle Hunt Festival. Several nodded to him, friendly smiles on their faces. But there were those who sympathized with the Chantrelle family. They in particular openly scowled or stared with blank faces. The latter especially worried Naveel, could that be the influence of the Corruption already twisting their minds? He had to hurry to Myron and concoct the remedy the old sage had discovered.
There are no particular brewing rules in Obojima. If you have the correct ingredients and tools, you can make the potion in 10 minutes. I found some cool alchemy rules that I’ll use for brewing potions instead.
This concoction is probably Very Rare (DC18). But since Myron will be assisting Naveel, I’m going to give him a +2 Modifier to his check.
If we fail the check, we keep the ingredients, but lose the gold cost. Myron will be fronting the gold in this case. I’ll also use the Potion Mishaps table from Obojima if we fail.
DC18
Naveel d20+6+2=25, Success! In Obojima, a potion takes 10 minutes. So, we’ll scale that with the rarity. So we’ll say a Very Rare potion takes 300 minutes (5 hours).
Myron and Naveel work long into the night, using a mortar and pestle to first grind the ingredients, then to form a brine with the paste mixed with sea water. Next they had to let it steep for a few hours. Finally, after midnight, they both collapsed into their chairs, brows covered in sweat from their arcane concentration. The first bottled Potion of Anti-Corruption sitting on Myron’s counter.
“Well done, lad, well done,” the old man said, wiping his sweaty forehead with his long white beard. “Tomorrow, we will apply the potion to the Pendant. Hopefully it will be enough to remove its Corruption influence. If it works, we will monitor the Chantrelles who were affected, and see how their behavior changes.”
Naveel nodded, he was happy with the efforts they had put forward, and the end result sounded promising.
The old sage got up, and tottered over to a small shelf where several potion bottles were stored. He glanced over the different vials and bottles, and finally selected one with a green liquid within. He brought it back over to Naveel.
“Here take this, lad. For your help with the village. It is a Potion of Respiratory Distress. If you are faced with a foe, and you need to get away, toss this at their feet. It will make it hard for them to breathe long enough for you to escape.”
“Thank you, sir.” Naveel took the offered potion and gave a small bow.
“You should probably go get some sleep. Tomorrow, I will begin to administer the potion and I’ll let you know how it goes. You can begin preparing for the Truffle Hunt!”
Naveel wanted to argue that he would assist with the application of the potion, but he did not want to overstep his involvement with the health of the village members. Plus, he admitted he was eager to begin readying for the upcoming hunt!

Close thread: Deliver cure for Corrupted Pendant
A short session, but I had a lot of fun toying with the Alchemy rules. I have a feeling we may utilize them further in the future!
